The Beauty of Slowing Down With God

  Why Sometimes the Holiest Thing You Can Do Is Simply Be Still “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 There is something sacred about slowing down. Our world tells us to hurry, achieve more, check another box, answer another email, and move on to the next thing before we’ve even enjoyed the present moment. But God rarely rushes. Throughout Scripture, we find Him meeting people in quiet places—a garden, a mountainside, beside a well, in a boat, around a table. He still meets us there today. Sometimes I think we convince ourselves that spending time with God has to look impressive. We think we need an hour-long Bible study, pages of journal notes, or every answer before we come to Him. But perhaps what He really wants is simply us. A willing heart. An open Bible. A warm cup of tea. Five quiet minutes. Those small moments become holy because He is there.
