The Beauty of Slowing Down With God

Why Sometimes the Holiest Thing You Can Do Is Simply Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

There is something sacred about slowing down.

Our world tells us to hurry, achieve more, check another box, answer another email, and move on to the next thing before we’ve even enjoyed the present moment.

But God rarely rushes.

Throughout Scripture, we find Him meeting people in quiet places—a garden, a mountainside, beside a well, in a boat, around a table.

He still meets us there today.

Sometimes I think we convince ourselves that spending time with God has to look impressive.

We think we need an hour-long Bible study, pages of journal notes, or every answer before we come to Him.

But perhaps what He really wants is simply us.

A willing heart.

An open Bible.

A warm cup of tea.

Five quiet minutes.

Those small moments become holy because He is there.

And over time, those little moments shape our faith more than we realize.

Scripture

“Be still, and know that I am God.”

Psalm 46:10

Reflection

As you slowly read this verse, ask yourself:

• What does God want me to lay down today?

• What distractions keep me from being still?

• What would it look like to simply enjoy His presence instead of trying to accomplish something?

Don’t rush your answers.

Sit with them.

Just like tea needs time to steep, our hearts often need time to hear God’s voice.

The Gift of Quiet

We often believe we have to earn rest.

But throughout Scripture, rest isn’t presented as a reward.

It’s an invitation.

Jesus never said,

“Come to Me once you’ve figured everything out.”

He simply said,

“Come to Me.”

What a beautiful Savior.

He welcomes us exactly where we are.

Not because we’ve done enough.

Because He loves us.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for reminding me that I don’t have to hurry through life to earn Your love.

Help me slow down today.

Quiet the noise around me and the worries inside me.

Teach me to enjoy Your presence instead of constantly striving.

May every ordinary moment become an opportunity to know You more deeply.

Thank You for always waiting with open arms.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do…

is sit quietly with Jesus.

You don’t have to have all the answers.

You don’t have to fix everything today.

You simply have to remain close to the One who already holds tomorrow.

Take a deep breath.

Pour another cup.

Stay a little longer.

One of the sweetest parts of faith is discovering how God meets us in ordinary moments.

Maybe your testimony isn’t dramatic.

Maybe it looks like finding peace after a difficult season.

Learning to trust Him one day at a time.

Opening your Bible again after feeling distant.

Choosing hope when fear feels louder.

Never underestimate those quiet victories.

Someone else may need the exact encouragement your story carries.

How has God been faithful to you recently?

Write it down.

Share it with someone.

His faithfulness deserves to be remembered.

Growing Together

One of the things I love most is gathering around a table with other women, a warm cup of tea, and God’s Word open between us.

Faith was never meant to be lived alone.

Whether you’re meeting with friends, hosting a Bible study, or simply encouraging one another over tea, those conversations often become the places where God strengthens our hearts.

That’s exactly why I created the Kingdom Kettle Study Bundle—a collection of beautiful printable resources designed to make gathering around Scripture simple, meaningful, and welcoming. It’s not about completing an intense study; it’s about creating space to grow together, pray together, and encourage one another—one cup at a time.

Until Next Time…

Friend,

Wherever you are today, remember this:

God isn’t asking you to do more before you come to Him.

He’s simply inviting you to sit with Him.

Pour the tea.

Open His Word.

Listen.

He is already there.

With grace,

Kingdom Kettle
